Croup Monster!!

Last Tuesday, Ava had another run in with the croup (not sure how to spell it)!!! We kind of knew it was coming, the other two times it came out of nowhere! She had been pretty sneezy that day and the night before. At least this time it was only 10:45 when she woke up with the strider breathing. For her it isn’t bouts of coughing, she just sounds like Darth Vader while breathing. After 20 minutes we took her to the ER for a breathing treatment and oral steroid. As soon as they gave her that, she was fine!! We have been just nursing the cold symptoms since. She is almost all the way better. While I already knew that the croup is just a cold virus, I did not know it was airborne!! I called her pediatrician the next day and we got a prescription for an oral steroid so next time we won’t have to spend 3 or 4 hours at the ER. At least it's fun for Ava to get stickers, popsicles and watch movies!! Let’s just pray we make it through the next few months and winter without another episode! Once you get it the first time, the Dr. said you are more prone to it for the next year or two!!! JUST GREAT!!!
