Grand Bob orders Sign Language DVDs from our local library and watches them with Ava so she can learn sign language. Grand Bob used to know how to speak in sign language. Ava absolutely loves it. The videos are actually entertaining to watch and are very current ( not what you would think they would make for the library). There is a series of 8 Dvds and they are slowly plowing their way through them. Ava loves to teach me and Chad what she has learned. She is not yet learning to speak in sentences, but she knows a lot of words. There are a lot of animals she has learned and the newest series of dvds are about cooking, food, and birthday parties. We'll see how far she gets with this. It's great bonding time for them. Before she started talking, I would teach her certain signs for babies so they can communicate better like simple signs for - more, milk, happy, sleep - stuff like that. It really worked - I always knew when she wanted more of something or milk!! Here are some pictures of the words she has learned: Bug, I love you, Deer and party!!
