I have to take a minute to throw out some props to my hubby. I am so proud of the way he has gone about building his businesses over the past three years. This has really helped shape the man he has always been growing into. He had a vision to start this business three years ago after needing a change out of the Home Theater industry. His family has been in the funeral home industry for over fifty years and Chad basically grew up in the business, so this was a natural fit. He didn’t want to work directly in the family business, but this became an offshoot of it, run by him. The name came from a wish to honor his late grandfather, who is the one who began the business over half a century ago. He was really well known nationally for the work he accomplished and was highly respected, not to mention Chad was very close with him. Gramps LOVED cardinals, and strangely enough after he passed, everyone started seeing cardinals everywhere!!!
He started with one dump truck and tractor and slowly added the fleet you see in these pictures. He has gone through many employees and has ended up with a true gem. Last year Chad bought the big vault truck and saw an opportunity to branch off into another business in making vaults. We started Cardinal Vault last November after much research and so far, so good. I don’t think I have ever seen anyone work as hard as he does. He has many 16 hour days – all of which are very physical and can be mentally draining (especially on the day when he has 3 or 4 funerals). All of his equipment he hauls around for the services and the methods of making the vaults require A LOT of physical strength. I get to reap the rewards of all that hard work on his body J! He doesn’t have to go the gym anymore.
Chad truly loves what he does each day and enjoys knowing the families are comforted by the delicate service he provides in those very final moments. He gets to work with his hands, work outdoors and utilize his sales skills, not to mention enjoy living out every little boys dream of driving big trucks and tractors every day.
I think this year is going to be a great year for us. I never would have thought working with Chad would have this much synergy. I handle all the bookkeeping, invoicing and paperwork. I have also enjoyed helping to build this business for our family and support Chad as he grows his vision. It is all hard work, and he can be not at home frequently, but building your own business is exciting and I love watching how much pride it has given Chad.
We love you babe and can’t wait to see what 2009 brings!!!!

Chad's vault mold. He has a mixer for it too now, the truck like in this picture doesn't have to come pour anymore.
Chad's everyday truck and trailer that hauls his funeral service equipment.
The vault truck that carries the vaults and sets them over the hole
The dump truck and tractor that hauls the dirt and digs the holes!!
